Many of our customers have made the switch because of growing awareness of the harm to the environment caused by single use plastics.
Over the past 3 years we have delivered over 4 million glass bottles to the doorstep, dramatically reducing the amount of single use plastic either entering landfill sites or even worse our oceans, and that change is down to you – our amazing customers – for supporting our #gogreengoglass campaign.
And when the BBC showed its Blue Planet 2 series in 2017, which highlighted the effects on the oceans of plastic pollution, demand for glass bottles from our customers soar.

Why switch to glass bottles for your milk?
Plastic milk bottles are single use and while they can be recycled, it can only be done a few times before the plastic degrades. Much of that plastic ends up in landfill or even finds its way into the oceans.
But glass is different. Just one glass bottle can be used many times over – simply by washing it – and when its life is over it can be 100% recycled – and recycling glass uses less energy than making new glass. It can also be recycled over and over again.
Like plastic, glass will not fully biodegrade, but glass breaks down into natural compounds that are safe and stable. In landfill, plastic breaks down into a cocktail of harmful chemicals that leach into the soil and find their way into groundwater.
So glass bottles are way better for the environment and don’t contribute to our huge plastic problem.

How to make the switch to glass bottles

We’ll switch your order to glass bottles and make sure you still get the right amount of milk, or you can use our calculator.
And, of course, once you’ve made the switch, all you need to do is rinse out your bottles and leave them on the doorstep. We’ll do the rest!
